Want help filing taxes? Need free legal advice? We believe legal and financial services should be accessible to all. The FRC will connect you to experts that can help answer your housing, legal, and financial questions. The FRC is an official Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site, which means that you can receive free tax assistance from a professional preparer.

We know that in order to thrive, at some point you may need housing and legal support. Our partners at New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and Neighborhood Trust can help. Workshops and one-on-one sessions are available by appointment. Just give us a call and we’ll tell you how to connect.

NYC Financial Empowerment Centers provide FREE one-on-one professional financial counseling and coaching to support you in reaching your goals. Work with counselors to:
  • Create a budget
  • Establish or improve credit
  • Set up a spending plan
  • Open a safe and affordable bank account
  • Contact lenders about debt, including student loans. Learn more at nyc.gov/StudentLoans.
  • Develop a strategy to reduce debt or lower payments
  • Access emergency government resources
  • Separate personal and business finances
  • And much more!
To book an appointment online, create or login to your Financial Empowerment Portal account, or call 311 for assistance.
To make your appointment at MCC, follow these steps:
  1. Under Choose a Program, select Financial Empowerment Center.
  2. Under Language select English.
  3. On the following page you must scroll and select Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners at Manny Cantor Center (In Person).
  4. Choose a date and time for the appointment.
