Adult Education

Want to learn English? Interested in becoming a U.S. citizen? Our Adult Education Program is open to anyone age 18 and older who wants to continue learning.
We offer these classes and services:
- ESOL classes from beginner to intermediate levels, in partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and New York City College of Technology (City Tech)
- Citizenship class, in partnership with the Chinese Progressive Association
- Weekly English Conversation Group (online via Zoom)
- One-on-one consultation for all current ESOL students
- Workshops and field trips to practice English in real-life situations
All applicants must attend a new student intake session in person to enroll in a class, except for the online citizenship class and English Conversation Group. Click the “Apply for ESOL Class” button below to find out the next available intake session. All classes are free of charge. We do not ask for students’ income and immigrant status.

ESOL AND ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP:
- ESOL Classes: In partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College and New York City College of Technology. Develop and improve your English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills with our experienced ESOL instructors. Classes meet 2-3 times on weekday mornings. Enrolled students will also receive a one-on-one consultation with student advisors and access to life-skill and job readiness workshops.
- Online English Conversation Group: Work with English-speaking volunteers in a small group to practice listening and speaking skills. This casual, warm, and immersive group welcomes all learners. Drop in or come weekly. Class Schedule: Fridays, 11 am to 12:30 pm.

CITIZENSHIP CLASSES:
- Citizenship Classes with the Chinese Progressive Association: Prepare for the United States Naturalization Test. Classes are available in person and online. Please see the flyer for details. *Classes are taught in English.
