As we wrap up CelebratEArts for Older Americans Mo As we wrap up CelebratEArts for Older Americans Month, meet Margaret Yuen, a member of the Weinberg Center for Balanced Living (WCBL) and a former Chinese dance instructor at MCC. She is an active participant in a plethora of classes, including Puppetry and Origami. Many of her art pieces can be found in the exhibitions currently on view in our lobby and the Ernest Rubenstein Gallery. Thank you to everyone who joined us at this year’s Community Prom! The event brought community members of all ages together for an unforgettable afternoon filled with dancing, laughter, and shared memories. Our members enjoyed music from different eras, taking part in fun activities, delicious refreshments, and the opportunity to win exciting raffle prizes. We look forward to next year’s intergenerational celebration. Recently, over spring break, our college-bound Edg Recently, over spring break, our college-bound Edgies members traveled to Long Island to take a tour of SUNY Old Westbury! The teens had the opportunity to meet with staff and students, explore the campus, and enjoy some ice cream. We look forward to facilitating more field trips for our students later this year.

Earlier this week, MCC hosted an inspiring panel o Earlier this week, MCC hosted an inspiring panel of teaching artists from Educational Alliance’s Older Adult Programs. The artists shared how creativity helps build connections, foster self-expression, and strengthen community. They spoke about the joy of making art together and how it supports well-being, helping older adults feel empowered, engaged, and truly seen. It was an important reminder of how art can bring people together and enrich lives at every stage.

May is Lower East Side History Month, an annual ce May is Lower East Side History Month, an annual celebration of the stories and peoples of the LES. 
 
This month, we celebrate the enormous artistic contributions of our older adult community.  

Join us during the CelebratEArts Festival for Grandcestors: Stories That Shape Us on Thursday, May 29th from 2 pm - 3:30 pm on the 6th Floor Rooftop. Celebrate National Share-a-Story Month and Lower East Side History Month with older New Yorkers sharing personal histories and legacies that connect us. Enjoy an afternoon fostering community through storytelling and reflection.
