Educational Alliance Art School Ceramics Student Apprentice Program

The Ceramics Student Apprentice Program at Educational Alliance Art School, located in the Manny Cantor Center, offers a competitive opportunity for ceramics students to receive advanced training in studio craft and material sciences. This year-long program aims to support emerging artists by providing the time and space necessary to develop their creative practices. Apprentices are awarded a full scholarship for one of our 10-week Ceramics Courses during the Fall 2025, Winter 2026, and Spring 2026 terms, along with professional training from our Ceramics Education Manager. At the end of the program, apprentices are given space in one of our art galleries to present and curate their artwork in our annual Ceramics Apprenticeship exhibition.
Deadline to apply to the program is Friday, July 31st, 2026.
Apprentices will receive professional training in the following areas:
- Clay and glaze composition and science
- Loading and firing of oxidation kilns
- Maintenance of ceramic studios and equipment
Qualifications:
- At least three years of hands-on ceramics experience (formal or informal).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- A desire to contribute to a community-based art school.
- Ability to commit to 10 hours of volunteer time per week for the duration of the apprenticeship (5 hours on Tuesdays from 4 pm – 9 pm, and 5 hours on Saturdays or Sundays from 1 pm – 6 pm).
