Virtual Video Workshop: Kyle Lee 

In this weekly event, Kyle Lee, ceramic artist & educator, will host lively discussions exploring the creative practices and individual techniques of notable ceramic artists. Each session Kyle will share a pre-recorded workshop featuring a different ceramic artist demonstrating a series of unique techniques that students can use in their own continuing practices. After the workshop video, Kyle will answer questions to clarify and deepen students’ understanding of the featured techniques. Anyone interested in ceramics is welcome! Join us next Monday from 6:30-8:00pm.

Virtual Salon: Toshiko Takaezu, Portrait of an Artist: (1922-2011)

In this salon we will be discussing the artwork and creative practices of Toshiko Takaezu. In the early 1990s, producer Susan Wallner spent time talking to Toshiko about her life and work. They travelled to Hawaii to see the “devastation forest” and the sunrise at Haleakala. This short film includes some of Toshiko’s last Princeton students, who were invited to do a raku firing at her home studio. Please watch this short film before joining the salon. Virtual Salon: Kehinde Wiley, The World Stage: France, 1880 1960

In this salon, we will discuss Kehinde Wiley’s process as he prepared for his 2012 show at Galerie Daniel Templon in Paris, France. For this exhibition, Wiley examined African cultures and the colonial history of France in Africa (1880-1960). To gather reference materials and inspiration, Wiley explored Morocco, Tunisia, Gabon, Republic of Congo and Cameroon. We are not meeting this week due to Passover but hope you will join us next Thursday, April 16, at 6:30pm!
