No matter your age or background, our award-winning programs serve Lower East Siders from every corner of our neighborhood and beyond.

EDUCATIONAL ALLIANCE PRESCHOOL  A “whole child” curriculum featuring art activities and individual, small group, and community learning provide enrichment and socialization for children ages 2 to five.

EARLY HEAD START AND HEAD START  Comprehensive early childhood education and a range of support services, including pre-natal care, nutrition services, employment assistance, and family counseling, for qualifying families.

COLLEGE ACCESS AND SUCCESS Parents of children in our Early Head Start and Head Start programs can get ready to earn a college degree with our innovative partnership with the Borough of Manhattan Community College, the City University of New York, and New York University.

NEW COUNTRY DAY CAMP Rising kindergartners through 8th graders can savor the peace that’s only found in nature, while belonging to a close-knit community that celebrates the unbridled joy of youth and the diversity of New York City.

EDGIES TEEN CENTER Everything from homework help to sports and games, music and dance, and cooking and crafts make after-school fun and productive for our community’s teenagers.

COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM Mentors and tutors, PSAT and SAT preparation, college fairs and visits, and application and financial aid workshops give a helping hand to college-bound teenagers.

THE WEINBERG CENTER FOR BALANCED LIVING Health and wellness programs, dance and fitness classes, arts and culture opportunities, and a wide range of social events keep things hopping for adults 55 and up. (Formerly known as the Whittaker Center)

Arts & Culture

ART SCHOOL: The Lower East Side is a creative haven, and the Manny Cantor Center is devoted to nurturing our artistic community with a full range of ceramics, drawing, painting, and sculpture classes for all ages.

EXHIBITIONS: The Jewish Communal Fund and Ernest Rubenstein Galleries showcase the work of both emerging and established artists on a rotating basis.

There’s always something going on at Manny’s place: music, art, DIY workshops, lectures, volunteer opportunities, special guests, and special events. The Manny Cantor Center gives you easy access to the kinds of creative, innovative, and thoughtful programs that will make a real difference in your life — and in your community. Our gorgeous new glass-enclosed rooftop event space hosts cultural performances, artists’ gatherings, and community events throughout the year.

Set in a 7,000 square-foot, light-filled room with amazing views, the Manny Cantor Fitness Center has the latest strength and cardio exercise equipment, personal training and a full calendar of group exercise classes. From cycling and kickboxing to sculpting and toning to yoga and Zumba™, our reasonably-priced, state-of-the-art gym will have you schvitzing for health and for joy. For good old-fashioned competition, join a pick-up game on our 5,000 square-foot indoor basketball and volleyball court.
