“Be the change you wish to see in the world”
This famous Ghandi quote is at the heart of what happens at Manny Cantor Center each day. Our programs are fueled by dedicated volunteers who work to make our center a better place. MCC volunteers do everything from preparing and serving meals to older adults, registering community members to vote, helping teens with their college applications, helping to teach adults English, and so much more.
In 2018 alone, 1000 volunteers donated over 23,000 hours of direct service time—which is the equivalent of 11 full-time staff members. Simply put, we could not do what we do without them. We are grateful to our volunteers for providing this critical people power to ensure our programs run well and are of a high-quality.
Each day, we are inspired to see community members give their time to improve their community. Our volunteers are MCC–they are participants in our programs, they are our neighbors, and they reflect the breadth of our diverse center and city. But most of all, they are committed to being the change and to building the community we all want to live in.
Thank you to our volunteers for a successful year! Learn more about our service initiative, More Hands, More Hearts, More Voices here.
