  • Join the Family Resource Center in collaboration with Edgies Teen Center for virtual workshops that focus on the challenges facing high school juniors! Get to know our staff as they assist you in navigating college preparedness and the admissions process. Topics include financial aid, college essay writing, and choosing the right school.   • Manny Cantor Center is thrilled to launch our next Community Arts Exhibition: Life of Objects . The exhibition will examine our relationships to the objects that have taken on a special meaning during the past 12 months. A selection of photographs will be featured in a public online exhibition for all to enjoy, and a selection of printed photographs will also be exhibited onsite at the Manny Cantor Center in the Ernest Rubenstein Gallery. You can learn more about the exhibition here, and make your submissions here. Submission Deadline: Friday, April 9th.

Keystone Club | 4pm to 5pm 

Keystone Club provides leadership development opportunities for young people. Teens participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, teens learn how to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community.

Participants are paired with volunteer tutors. Students receive one-on-one support virtually on subject areas: mathematics, science, reading/writing assignments, social studies, writing and essay feedback and assistance and academic skills building.

Financial Literacy | 6pm to 7pm 

Empowr Society’s Financial Literacy program delivers the foundational lessons of bettering your financial future: in which you can start taking action ASAP! Students will learn how to pay themselves first, make their money work for them, and increase their earning potential! Through the program, you will build a functional workbook where you can track your money, organize your finances, and outline the plans to jumpstart your future wealth! Sessions include a lot of activities and games because Empowr Society believes learning should be fun!

Tuesdays 

Senior Advisory | 4pm to 5pm 

Tailored specifically for rising high school seniors. Senior Advisory walks students through every aspect of the college application process. Participants are also eligible to attend free college financial aid workshops. All senior class participants must attend one day per week.

Senior Mentoring | 5pm to 6pm 

Volunteers work one-on-one with students throughout their college-application process. Students learn about volunteers’ career trajectory and how to job search successfully. Volunteers include Educational Alliance staff, community members, recent graduates and staff from corporate partner organizations such as Facebook, The New York Times, NYU, Barclays, Deloitte, and BlackRock. Students must participate in senior advisory to be eligible for senior mentoring.

The Coffeehouse will offer conversations multiple times a week on Zoom. We invite Edgies participants to bring their own coffee/tea and snacks and join us as we catch up from our week and make new friends throughout New York City.

SAT Prep Session 1 | 4pm to 5pm (Ends March 3)

Gain the tools and skills needed to successfully take the SAT test, apply for college, and prepare for a future career. Instructors will walk students through the college application process, fiscal responsibility, and career planning. Students will strengthen test-taking skills, and become familiar with SAT math and English content aligned with the newly redesigned SAT Exam.

Junior Mentoring | 5pm-6pm 

Volunteers work one-on-one with a student as they navigate the preparations for the college application process before entering their senior year. Volunteers support their mentee with creating their college list, writing/editing their personal statement, and researching and reviewing scholarship options. Students also learn about volunteers’ career trajectory and how to job search successfully. Volunteers are committed to the continuous support of the same student in the fall through Senior Mentoring.

Marketing Yourself | 4pm to 5pm 

Students learn how to showcase their personal brand to stand out in their college applications and to future employers. Creativity and marketing come together in this class, where students will learn how to create a portfolio to showcase talents, academics and other achievements. Students will learn how to create a LinkedIn profile, personal website and more!
