Members Portal – Edgies Teen Center
Fall Programming | Starting Oct. 4
Snack & Community Time: Students take time to relax and enjoy a snack while getting to know their fellow Edgies members. Staff are available for students who have something on their mind or need support, advice, resources, or help problem-solving.
Keystone Club: Keystone Club provides leadership development opportunities for young people. Teens participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation, and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, teens learn how to have a positive impact on members, the Club, and the community.
SAT Prep: Students strengthen their test-taking skills to increase their chances of getting into their top college. This free intensive class familiarizes students with SAT Math and English content aligned to the newly redesigned SAT Exam.
Senior Advisory: Tailored specifically for rising high school seniors. Senior Advisory walks students through every aspect of the college application process. Participants are also eligible to attend free college financial aid workshops. All senior class participants must attend one day per week.
Open Gym: Teens can use this unstructured gym time to improve their jump shot, speed, and confidence on the court. They can also unwind from their week while playing volleyball, soccer, jump rope, or badminton.
Teen Ceramics: Ceramics course provided by Manny Cantor’s Art Studio. Participants dive into the decorative and functional world of this ancient three-dimensional art form and create clay-based artworks. Participants will also have the opportunity to experiment with the potter’s wheel and glaze their own creations.
Podcasting with Building Beats: Learn how to produce a podcast from scratch! Students will learn about ideation, audio engineering, interviewing, production, and other necessary skills. By the end of this course, you’ll produce and record your own podcast and/or support
Senior Mentoring: Volunteers work one-on-one with students throughout their college application process. Students learn about volunteers’ career trajectory and how to job search successfully. Volunteers include Educational Alliance staff, community members, recent graduates, and staff from corporate partner organizations such as Facebook, The New York Times, NYU, Barclays, Deloitte, and BlackRock. Students must participate in senior advisory to be eligible for senior mentoring.
Chill Fridays: Invitation to participants to chill out in the lounge, play card games, video games, pool, watch movies and interact/socialize with their Edgies peers.
