Teen Center Activities
Edgies Teen Center is committed to empowering New York City teens ages 13 to 18, ensuring that they have the skills, resources, and opportunities to achieve their full potential. In our program, Edgies teens receive individual guidance from highly qualified staff as well as access to immersive professional studios and academic enrichment. We aim to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to succeed through quality educational, recreational, and social programs.
Teen Center Classes are currently being held virtually. If you are an enrolled student, please email email@example.com for more information.
Keystone Club: Keystone Club provides leadership development opportunities for young people. Teens participate in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, teens learn how to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community.
Tutoring: Participants are paired with volunteer tutors. Students receive one-on-one support virtually on subject areas: mathematics, science, reading/writing assignments, social studies, writing and essay feedback and assistance and academic skills building.
Senior Advisory: Tailored specifically for rising high school seniors. Senior Advisory walks students through every aspect of the college application process. Participants are also eligible to attend free college financial aid workshops. All senior class participants must attend one day per week.
Senior Mentoring: Volunteers work one-on-one with students throughout their college-application process. Students learn about volunteers’ career trajectory and how to job search successfully. Volunteers include Educational Alliance staff, community members, recent graduates and staff from corporate partner organizations such as Facebook, The New York Times, NYU, Barclays, Deloitte, and BlackRock. Students must participate in senior advisory to be eligible for senior mentoring.
SAT Prep: Gain the tools and skills needed to successfully take the SAT test, apply for college, and prepare for a future career. Instructors will walk students through the college application process, fiscal responsibility, and career planning. Students will strengthen test-taking skills, and become familiar with SAT math and English content aligned with the newly redesigned SAT Exam.
Edgies in GEAR: Ideal for 7th-10th grade students. Edgies in GEAR provides participants with early college and career awareness resources. Participants will build a pathway portfolio including tools on accessing and paying for college, exploring career paths and future success.
Digital Marketing: Digital Marketing explores how brands stand out in the digital age through social media, content creation, and web design. Students will gain an understanding of how to engage an audience and learn how to best use marketing tools to navigate the world of online marketing.
